Twitter and Facebook

As with most experienced Linux IT Specalist, I work in a Windows environment. It does keep me hopping at times with fixing virus issues, malware popups, and other problems related to Microsoft Windows security.

You may wonder what this has to do with the title of this blog? Well, here it is.

This past week Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks were knocked off the Internet for hours due to Windows botnet based DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service). According to McAfee this DDOS was aimed at one person, and this individual's accounts on Twitter, YouTube, LiveJournel, and Facebook.

So you say; how did this happen? Well, Windows is as secure as a house without locks on the doors and windows. It tells the world, "looky here, I open for your pleasure". It is an insecure piece of trash. Window botnets are responsible for most of the e-mail spam and DDOS attacks.

The best possible prevention of keeping your PC from being a victim of malware, trojans, and virus attacks is to use Linux. But, if that is not your desire keep your Window PC's update on security patches and anti-virus software definitions up to date.
