Enerygy Plan by George W. Bush administration

This is some highlights that President Bush's energy plan that was set forth in May of 2001. Also, there was predictions that there would be higher oil prices in the future.

This has come true. Now please look at the following:

Key elements of the US Energy plan:

  • promotion of more oil and gas drilling (including in part of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge)
  • ease regulatory barriers to building of new nuclear power plants and expansion for existing ones
  • study the idea of reviving "breeder reactors" to reprocess nuclear fuel
  • measures to improve energy infrastructure (new and better transmission lines)
  • build more than 1300 new power stations over the next 20 years
  • measures for energy conservation including tax credits for fuel-efficient "hybrid vehicles", energy efficient homes, use of solar panels and wind power, and possible tightening of fuel economy standards for carmakers.
  • tax benefits for cogeneration plants
  • review of clean air rules to give refiners more flexibility
